Darleen S. Blakely, 74, of Silver Creek, NY passed away on Monday morning, September 18, 2017 at her residence following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born on February 19, 1943 in Silver Creek, the daughter of the late Vincent and Josephine (Bennice) Amico.

A lifelong Silver Creek resident, Darleen was a graduate of Silver Creek High School, Class of 1961. A very independent woman, she owned a nail salon “Great Lengths” for many years. She married the love of her life, Donald R. Blakely on June 2, 1961 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Silver Creek and together they raised two sons and a daughter.

She was an avid bowler at the Lake View Bowling Alley, playing in the mixed doubles league on Friday nights. Darleen enjoyed gardening, golfing, maintaining her household and property. She was a former member of the Tri-County Country Club.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Donald Blakely; two sons, Dennis Blakely of Shippensburg, PA, and Doane Blakely of Seattle, WA; a daughter, Denise (Peter) Muscarella of Farnham, NY; two granddaughters, Brooke Blakely and Sheri Muscarella; two grandsons, Christopher Muscarella and Peter (Peggy) Muscarella; and a sister, Linda (Melvin) Smith of Wilmington, NC.

In addition to her parents, Darleen was preceded in death by her step-mother, Lucille Amico, and two brothers, Vincent Amico Jr. and Richard Amico.

Relatives and friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave., Silver Creek on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 5-8 p.m., where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m., her brother-in-law Pastor Melvin Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions in Darleen’s memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association WNY Chapter, 2805 Wehrle Dr., Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221.
