LeRoy A. “Bean” Zollinger

South Dayton — LeRoy A. “Bean” Zollinger, 66, of Mill Street, South Dayton, passed away Monday (September 18, 2017) in the Emergency Room at Lakeshore Hospital in Irving.

He was born April 22, 1951 in Gowanda, the son of the late Robert A. and Louise Richter Zollinger.

Bean was a 1969 graduate of South Dayton High School and retired due to ill health from School Bus Driving at Pine Valley Central School.

In earlier years, he worked as a bartender at Zollingers South Dayton Hotel and at the former Nestle Carnation Plant in South Dayton.

His interests were many: he loved to travel and he had visited most of the lower 48 states and Alaska, he also ventured through most of Canada, (he loved New Brunswick) and to Venezuela. Many of his excursions were to fish, his favorite pastime. He taught many how to Fly Fish, no truer student than his nephew Ehrich.

Family and friends were dear to him, he also enjoyed, suduko puzzles, camping, woodworking, reading and shooting pool.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Roberta Zollinger Martin.

He is survived by his wife; Wanda Miller Zollinger, a daughter; Anita Pritchard and husband Matthew of Cattaraugus (East Leon), grand-daughters; Amy Pritchard of University of Buffalo and Mindy Pritchard of Jamestown Business College, four siblings;

Karen (Norris) Meyers, Kathy (Pete) Stoltenberg, Louis (Marsha) Zollinger and Lawrence (Melanie) Zollinger, all of South Dayton, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10-12:30 Saturday (September 23, 2017) in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph, from where services will follow at 12:30.
