Douglas Rich Bunker

Douglas Rich Bunker, 88, of Hurlburt Road, Forestville and Buffalo, died Wednesday, October 4th, 2017 at Buffalo General Hospital, following a short illness. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 10, 1929, the son of the late Bryan Lamond and Chloe Lapriel (Strong) Bunker.

Mr. Bunker was a graduate of Las Vegas High School, Class of 1947, graduated from Brigham Young University with a Master’s degree and from Harvard University with a PhD. He served in the Air Force and was the owner of Hanova Hills Farm, LLC, Forestville, since 1979. Mr. Bunker was employed with the Harvard Business School Faculty and from 1967-1995 was employed with the University of Buffalo.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Buffalo and during his 50 years in Western New York, he held several positions in the church including Branch President. Mr. Bunker’s faith was very important to him and he enjoyed farming and his family.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara B. (Benedict) Bunker of Forestville and Buffalo; two daughters, Linda Bunker-Benson, of Dublin, GA, Sharon (Scott Gee) Bunker, of Niagara Falls, NY; two sons, Douglas B. (Cindy) Bunker, and Hugh (Carin) Bunker, both of Salt Lake City, UT; two brothers, Allen Bunker and Gary (Carol) Bunker. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother David Bunker.

Friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 AM on Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 145 Goodell Street, Buffalo, from where Funeral Services will follow at 11 o’clock. Private Interment will be in Forestville Cemetery.
