Robert W. Kawski

Robert W. Kawski, 87, of Stockton, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017.

Born September 25, 1930 in Fredonia a son of the late Francis “Frank” and Rose Larson Kawski. He was a 1949 graduate of Brocton High School.

Bob was employed at Welch’s until 1957. He then drove trucks for Pima Copper Mines in Tucson, AZ for six years, was later a part of the construction crew at the Kinzua Dam. He also was employed with the Town of Stockton Highway Department from 1966 until his retirement in 1996. During retirement, he delivered newspapers for the Post-Journal on various rural routes.

Bob was a former member of the Stockton Volunteer Fire Department.

He enjoyed working in the yard and keeping a large garden, was an avid reader and especially enjoyed Louis L’Amour western books and anything and everything that involved sports. He was a sports fan especially baseball and had attended MLB games at various stadiums throughout the country including the 2011 MLB All-Star Game and to also see his beloved Cleveland Indians. It was all about family with Bob.

Husband of 60 years to Jean Briggs Kawski who he married Nov. 16, 1957; father of, Robert A. Kawski of Stockton and John F. (Christina) Kawski of Dunkirk; grandfather of, Brandon, Nathan, John Allen and the late Alexander Kawski; brother of, Dorothy Godlewski, Eleanor Shuart, William and James Kawski and the late Martha Brisky, Phyllis Butcher, Francis, Jr., Leo and Victor Kawski. Also survived by nieces and nephews including, Deborah (Tom) Caruso, David (Nancy) Briggs, Cynthia (William) Loftus and Brenda (Ted) Cline, who he and Jean assisted in raising.

In following Bob’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.
