James M. “Gook” Brenecki

James M. “Gook” Brenecki, age 68, of Dun-kirk passed away suddenly Friday morning, Dec. 8, 2017 at Brooks Hospital. Born in Dunkirk on Oct. 9, 1949 to the late Peter and Cecilia Schieres Brenecki, and was a resident of the area his entire life. He was a retired driver for BOCES and previously worked for Kraft Foods until it closed.

He enjoyed horse racing, especially the Kentucky Derby, and was a avid fan of the Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed camping.

His memberships included: Blessed Mary Angela Roman Catholic Parish — St. Hedwig’s Church, Murray Hose Co. #4, Dunkirk Falcons Club, World War II Veterans and the Dunkirk Exempts Club.

Surviving are 4 sisters: Marie (Richard) Mosier and JoAnn (Thomas) Tworek, both of Dunkirk; Janet (Lowell) Anderson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Janice (William) Koch of Baldwinsville, New York. He is further survived by 2 brothers: Jerome Brenecki of Torrance, California and Joel Brenecki of Dunkirk. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial that will be held Wednesday morning, Dec. 13, 2017, at Blessed Mary Angela Roman Catholic Parish — St. Hedwig’s Church, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jan Trela officiating. Interment will be in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by the Newman Funeral Home, Inc.
