Dorothy Gunther, 97, of Dunkirk died Saturday evening (Jan. 27, 2018) at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk.
She was born April 29, 1920 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Michael and Hattie (Graczykowski) Layman.
A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Dorothy had been employed at the former Van Raalte Company and M. Wile Company. She was a member of the Dunkirk Lodge No. 89 Loyal Order of Moose, Dom Polski Club, Kosciuszko Club, and the Buffalo Bills Booster Club.
Dorothy enjoyed bingo, going to the casinos, and playing cards, especially pinochle.
Survivors include her son, Raymond (Linda) Gunther Jr. of Dunkirk; her daughter, Patricia A. (John) Crockett of Dunkirk; grandson, Matthew (Jessica) Gunther of Stocton; and two great grandsons, Mason and Isaac Gunther.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Gunther; one brother, Chester Layman; and one sister, Florence Lipka.
Memorial services will be held Friday morning at 11 o’clock in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Pastor Zoe Milliman will officiate. Burial will be in Willowbrook Park Cemetery.
