Robert Willis Brierly Miller

Robert Willis Brierly Miller

Robert Willis Brierly Miller passed away at Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh on February 7, 2018 at age 76. Born November 7, 1941 to J. Clyde Miller Jr. and Helen Evelyn Upton Miller, he graduated from Homestead High School in Homestead, PA., and at-tended West Virginia Wesleyan College, Buckhannon WV.

A Navy Veteran, his service in the Pacific Theater started in the Tonkin Gulf, Vietnam and ended in the Strait of Taiwan on the Destroyer Escort USS Bridget. Bob used to joke that his radar“shack” was so small, that two candy bar wrappers would obscure the radar screen!

Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves a brother, J. Clyde Miller III (Jay) (Joyce Dodge), nephew J. Clyde Miller IV ( Todd ) (Karen Roura Miller), niece Kerry Miller Beck,( Robert J. Beck), grandnieces Lyndsey Miller and Callie Beck; grandnephews Ryan Beck and Nathan Miller and a host of friends in Pittsburgh and Van Buren Bay/Point, NY.

His sunny disposition only wavered with a Penguins loss. He was genuinely nice to everyone, whether delivering parts for Bearings, Inc., where he was employed for many years, or enjoying summer beach time at Van Buren throughout his life. People were always happy to be around him, but still guarded their cheeseburgers in his company.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to his favorite place on earth “Van Buren Bay”.
