Laura May Turzillo

Laura May Turzillo, 89, formerly of Cherry Creek, NY and the Randolph Manor, passed away, Tuesday, March 6, 2018 in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center.

She was born April 12, 1928, in Akron, NY, the daughter of the late Leo and Beatrice (Legg) Waterstraw.

Laura was a graduate of Akron High School and the Deaconess School of Nursing in Buffalo. She retired from Pine Valley Central School, where she was the school nurse. She had also worked at the former Tri- County Memorial Hospital in Gowanda as a registered nurse.

While she was a resident at the Randolph Manor, she attended the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Laura was a former communicant of St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church in Cherry Creek and earlier at St. John Fisher RCC in South Dayton.

She is survived by a daughter Denise (Joseph) Schnur of Mechanicsburg, Pa; a daughter-in-law, Gail Turzillo of Rochester, NY; a sister; Lois Latner of Florida.

She was preceded in death by he husband, William J. Turzillo, whom she married in April of 1950 and who preceded her in August of 2005 and a son, Jay W. Tuzillo in November of 2014.

As per Laura’s wishes visitation will not be observed. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Janaczek in the spring with a date and time to be announced. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband Bill in the Cherry Creek Central Cemetery.
