Margaret Allessi, age 60, of Celoron, NY, died Friday, April 20, 2018 at The John and Orpha Blair Hospice Home of Warren, PA, following an extended ill-ness.
Margaret was born on December 17, 1957 in Dunkirk, NY, a daughter of the late Sam and Maxine (Latimer) Allessi.
Margaret, who is known by most as “Peggy”, was a woman of great strength and determination. No matter what life handed her, she always found a way to fight through it and come out better than before. She was a completely selfless person. For many years Peggy would work 2 and 3 jobs just to ensure her son (Kevin) was able to do all of the things she either had not done or could not do in her life. Peggy woke up every day with the goal of ensuring that those around her were happy. Whether she was at Moonbrook Country Club serving her patrons, making dinner for her long-time partner Frank Vassallo, who she loved deeply or helping her son with whatever he needed to be successful, it was always about others for her. She never asked for anything in return other than our love.
Her family was everything to her and she loved each and every one of us with all that she had.
Margaret is survived by her granddaughter Alyssa Poppenberg, her son Kevin Poppenberg and her 2 sisters Lynn Allessi-Burch and Susan Gambino.
To honor Margaret and her wishes, all services will be private.
