Dr. Dana Whitham Wheelock
Dr. Dana Whitham Wheelock died unexpectedly on September 13th, 2018, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY. He was born in Buffalo, NY on August
9th, 1964, to Patricia (Whitham) and the late Dr. Dana McKinstry Wheelock. At his side were his son and daughter, brother and sister, his lifelong friend, Scott Reynolds, Maria Wheelock and Kirsten Hubel.
Dana was a graduate of Fredonia High School in 1982. He then went on to
graduate from Denison University (Ohio) in 1986 Magna Cum Laude. From
there he attended and graduated from Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia. Recently he was a Supervisor for the Transitional
Team for the CNY Services of Syracuse. He had been a member of the Congregational Church UCC and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Syracuse,
NY. Dana enjoyed eclectic music, playing the bass guitar, rooting for the Buffalo Bills, and playing tennis in his younger days.
Besides his mother, Patricia, Dana is survived by his daughter Veronica and his son, Steffen, sisters Beth (Dale) Hudson and Gretchen (Daniel) Garvey and brother Andrew (Karin) Wheelock. Preceding him in death was his father, Dr. Dana Mck. Wheelock.A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredonia, New York. After the service, friends and family are welcome to come by Shorewood Country Club and enjoy some of Dana’s favorite foods, chicken wings and mint chip ice cream. A Celebration of Life gathering will be at 7 p.m., hosted by Lil Magill’s on Water St.
