Frederick J. “Fritz” Worosz

Frederick J. “Fritz” Worosz, 86, of Dunkirk, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Brooks Memorial Hospital.

He was born on October 16, 1932, to the late Michael F. and Florence (Pleszewski) Worosz. He married MaryAnn

(Korzeniewski) on May 28, 1960. They were married for nearly 51 years, before her untimely death six days prior to their Anniversary on May 22, 2011. Fritz was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, who went on the enlist in the US Navy (1-6-53 to

12-26-56) as a radioman aboard a submarine. After an honorable discharge, he found employment at Buffalo Press, and Kenmore Color Plate. He retired from Alumax as a machinist. He was a lifetime member of the The First Ward Falcon’s Club and The Moniuszko Club. He was a member of Hose 4, and a Murrayman in the Drum and Bugle Corp. Fritz was an avid sportsman his entire life: hunting, fishing, golfing, and skiing. In 2015, he was awarded the Lifetime membership to

The National Ski Patrol, honored with a Certficate of Merit for those years of service from The New York State Assembly, given by Andrew Goodell, as well as a Proclamation Award for 50 years of service to the National Ski Patrol by NY

State Senator Cathy Young. He was a member of the Blessed Mary Angela – St. Hyacinth- Parish. He is survived by his son,

Gary; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth (Seames) Worosz; beloved granddaughter, Michaela; brother, Michael Worosz, of East Setauket, NY; companion of six years, Nancy Crandall; and several nieces and nephews. Upon his sudden death,

Fritz had pre-arranged plans to donate his body to the UB Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences where he proudly said, he’d finally finish college. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 10

a.m. at the Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hyacinth. A private interment will be arranged at a future

date. Arrangements are by the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., Dunkirk.
