Isabel M. (Thom) Nichols “Scotty”

On Tuesday, March 12, 2019, Isabel M. (Thom) Nichols “Scotty” joined God, her husband Robert, her parents Charles and Beatrice (O’Brien) Thom, her children; infant daughter Margaret Mary, Robert H. Nichols Jr., and James T. Nichols, step- granddaughter Amy King, siblings; Marian (Charles) Morehouse, Helen Thom, Gordon (Florence) Thom.Scotty was born on June 12, 1923, in Corry, Pennsylvania. She was the youngest daughter of John Charles and Beatrice (O’Brien) Thom and married Robert H. Nichols on April 14, 1943, while Robert was stationed at Homestead Air Force Base in Miami, Florida during WWII.

Isabel is survived by her son, Lawrence P. (Kathleen) Nichols.Her grandchildren: Nicolette, Paul (Kimberly), John (Amber), Robert (Felicia), Morgan (James) Gennock, Christopher (Melanie), Joshua, Patrick (Jennifer), Aaron (Nora) Nichols, Marshall (Angela) and Jay (Wendy) King.Great-grandchildren: Leora, Rachel, Andrew, Camden, Anna Rose, Mari,

Lillian, and Henry Nichols. Angelina Gennock and Aaron Rathmann. Lela and Sara King. Daughters-in-law: Nancy Nichols, Lou Anne Nichols and A. Mary Nichols.Scotty was loved by many nieces, nephews and friends. She enjoyed being an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish over the last 70 years.Scotty was a lifelong member of the Dunkirk and Fredonia Communities. She graduated from Sacred Heart School and Dunkirk High School (1940). With her husband Robert, also an alumnus of Dunkirk High School, and classmates, Scotty planned many class reunions.Scotty attended Dunkirk Business Institute, worked in the offices at Van Raalte Company and, for 23 years, held various positions at Cease Commissary in Dunkirk.Over the past years, Scotty was appreciative of her family and friends who helped with daily tasks and doctor’s appointments. Most recently, Scotty was especially grateful for the help of her friend, Judy Dankert.Her funeral Mass will be held at St Joseph’s Parish, 145 E. Main St., Fredonia, NY. at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019. Family will receive family and friends in the Gathering room at 12 p.m. Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St Joseph’s Parish or the Rochester Ataxia Foundation, P.O.
