Don’t give up JC Penney fight

Editor, OBSERVER:

Remember just a few months ago when the New England Patriots were losing the Super Bowl 28-3 at halftime? How many of you thought they were going to win that game? However, Tom Brady and his teammates did NOT give up. Instead they made the extra effort to keep going and won.

I think we still have a chance to keep the JC Penney store open.

I have been in industry all my life and I know how to get the attention of those in the board room. I ask that everyone who does not currently have a JC Penney credit card, go to the store and apply for one by the close of business next Monday. If 500 to 1,000 people do that, it will send a strong message to the marketing department and will reach the board room. I got one for myself and one for my wife.

However, there are two important things that go along with this plan. First of all, you cannot apply online, but instead you must do it in person at the store in order for the store to get the credit for issuing the new card. Secondly, you need to send a postcard or letter to the director of marketing at JC Penney informing him/her (don’t use the current person’s name to ensure that the missive gets to the current holder of that position, which changes often in industry) that you will ONLY use the credit card at our store, and at our store alone.

For those of you who already have a JC Penney credit card, send the postcard or letter and tell the director of marketing you will not continue to use your credit card unless they keep the store open. You can send the letters or postcards to:
