HOLIDAY Shopping rush getting closer

A traditional rush is nearly upon us: the Black Friday shopping experience. Just like with many other issues across our country, America seems divided on this.

Should stores open Thanksgiving to begin the rush or should they remain closed to allow for families being together for the holiday? Of course, it is not up to the store workers. The consumers make that decision.

If shoppers show up on Thanksgiving, the market is obviously there. If the shoppers don’t show up, stores would be better served to wait.

Americans, however, have spoken. They show up late Thursday evening — and early Friday — for the deals.

If you do head out, however, remember it can get ugly. In previous years, we have seen — and covered — scuffles and punches thrown by overambitious buyers for a product.

That is unfortunately true — and does not keep with what is supposed to be the holiday spirit.
