Patient wishes physician well

I am currently a patient of Dr. Thomas McTernan Jr. of General Physicians PC. I am upset and saddened of his future departure from the current medical group he is with. I wish General Physicians PC would have done everything they could have to keep him part of their practice. I truly do not believe they realize whom and what they will be losing from his departure.

Dr. McT., as I call him, is a one of a kind doctor in today’s standards.

He listens, really listens to what our concerns are. He won’t shrug it off or make you feel like your concerns are not valid. He gives each appointment his valued time, with care and concern, not rushing through the appointment, or make you feel you are being pushed out the door as many doctors do. He greets you with a warm smile and ends the appointment with a laugh. He is personable, while still being professional.

Dr. McTernan’s concern for his patients does not end when his office hours end for the day. If he has a concern about you during his “off” hours he will follow through and contact you and let you know of his concerns.

I have recommended him to several family members, friends and co-workers, many of whom are males. Many males are uncomfortable seeing doctors. After their first appointment with him, a few told me how comfortable and relaxed they were talking to him.

I feel I can tell Dr. McTernan anything. The comfort level I feel with Dr. McTernan is like no other doctor-patient relationship I have had before. I can tell him anything and feel he will not judge me or look down upon me.

To have personality and bedside manner that makes your patient feel comfortable is a gift, something that was not taught in medical books. A gift many of his patients will miss. I truly will.

I want to wish Dr. Thomas McTernan the very best of luck on his new venture. I am happy he has made a decision that is best for himself and his family. I have much respect and admiration for you and I feel blessed to have had our paths cross in life.

You are going to be missed by many people in the community.
