Area fishing event reels them in

We would like to thank everyone who came out Saturday, June 24 for the free day of fishing sponsored by the Buffalo United Front, the Friendship Baptist Church of Dunkirk and a big thank you to the Conservation Club and Dunkirk City Mayor Willie Rosas and his brothers Robert and Hector.

To all of our volunteers, without your help our day wouldn’t have been a fun and successful day.

High praise

for city police chief

On Thursday, June 22, Chief of Police for the city of Dunkirk, David Ortolano, addressed the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy group at Holy Trinity Parish Center at 7 p.m.

I publicly wish to thank Chief Ortolano for his knowledge and insight into addiction. I’m not sure if the city of Dunkirk residents are aware of what they have in this man. I told my group to take a good look, because they won’t find another chief of police with the care and compassion that his man portrays.

I have been involved in chemical dependency for 38 years. I have listened to many speakers, but none with a better message of hope than Chief Ortolano. We are fortunate to have a chief like him directing our police force in the city of Dunkirk.
