Thirty years ago — 1987

The Village of Westfield has its first-ever woman mayor. Linda C. Dunn was elected to the mayor’s post over incumbent Mayor F. Gibbs Kerns during the elections which took place March 18. Mrs. Dunn, the Republican candidate who currently serves on the board of trustees, received a total of 555 votes to Mr. Kerns’ 444. Mrs. Dunn will take her oath of office on April 6.

Forty years ago — 1977

If you’re a fan of the “Bowling for Dollars” television show, be sure to watch this week for the appearance of James Steffan of Dunkirk. He is scheduled to be one of the contestants on the show. He will have as his cheering section his wife, Nancy and sons Douglas and James, and friends Thomas and Mickey Vega of Dunkirk.

Fifty years ago — 1967

Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Fiorito have returned to their home at 87 Howard St., Fredonia after attending the National Institute of Dry Cleaning Convention in Cleveland.

Mrs. David Shero has won first prize in the baking contest sponsored by Fredonia Grange 1.
