Thirty years ago — 1987

About 60 Marauder 3R Club members gathered to honor their mothers at the seventh annual “I Love Mother” banquet held at Shorewood Country Club with about 100 people attending. The club has 300 members in grades 9-12. Channel 7 personality Linda Pellegrino was the featured speaker .

Forty years ago — 1977

Cheryl Jesse, 18, a BOCES beauty culture student, has been selected Student of the Week. A senior at Dunkirk High School, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jesse, 25 North Ermine St., Dunkirk. Cheryl is a member of the school color guard, Gym Club and was active in school plays. An avid Sabres fan, she has enlisted in the WACS under the Early Enlistment Program. After completing her military duties, she plans on becoming a practicing beautician.

Fifty years ago — 1967

Miss Susan Wallace, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wallace of East Lake Road, Dunkirk is the winner of the seventh annual Murray Hose Co. No. 4 beauty contest. She now will represent the local fire company at the Chautauqua Gala Days competition to be held this summer. The first runner-up in the Dunkirk contest was Miss Judith Griswold.
