Thirty years ago — 1987

In recognition of the Dunkirk High School basketball team’s undefeated league championship this year, Dunkirk Mayor Edwin Gregoreski presented members of the team with honorary plaques. Those receiving plaques included Todd Alessi, Tony Bertucci, Marcus Buchanan, Tim Gibbons, Anthony Lockett, Dave Orth, Dave Patterson, John Uszacki, Jeff White and Joe Wisniewski. Coach Robert Wisniewski also was presented with a plaque which he turned over to High School Principal John Mancuso and Athletic Director Al Stuhlmiller in recognition of their constant support for the team.

Forty years ago — 1977

Miss Martha Snyder has been selected as the 1977 women’s sports All-Star Senior Athlete at Dunkirk High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence H. Snyder of 65 Seel St., Dunkirk. The award is aimed at recognizing outstanding women athletes in high schools across the country. Martha’s name appeared in the May 1977 issue of Women’s Sports magazine. Patty Will received a certificate for winning first place in the 100-yard breaststroke event at the Section VI Swimming and Diving Championships.

Fifty years ago — 1967

Mrs. Ellen Damon, Dunkirk public school supervisor, received a gold plaque from the School 3 Parents Club for her many years of service.

Anthony Gervase and Frank DeJohn of Fredonia attended the National Restaurant Show in Chicago.
