Retrospective

Thirty years ago — 1987

Robert J. Dorman, a senior at Dunkirk High School, was the lead trumpet player recently for the 1987 All New York State Lions Club concert band. The son of Mr. and Mrs. George F. Dorman, 124 East Green St., Dunkirk, he is also the lead trumpet player for the Dunkirk High School concert band, marching band and jazz ensemble and is a member of the Chautauqua County Wind Ensemble. Next year, he will attend the University of Rochester, where he plans to participate in the Eastman School of Music Jazz Ensemble.

Forty years ago — 1977

Senior students at Wayne Central High School recently dedicated their yearbook to their mathematics teacher, Mrs. Marcia Standera. Formerly of Dunkirk, Mrs. Standera is the daughter of Mrs. Frank Mignoli of Deer Street. She was chosen for her extensive participation in numerous school-related activities. She lives in Walworth, N.Y., with her husband Bernard and two children.

Fifty years ago — 1967

The Chautauqua County Volunteer Firemen’s Association has elected George Stiles of Cassadaga as president.

Student of the Week is Donald E. Towne, a senior at Forestville High School. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl G. Towne, 7 Prospect St.
