A community safety project was recently completed in Fredonia. This Eagle Service project, under the direction of Life Scout Ethan Zlotchew, involved painting a white and red stripe around the 41 telephone poles in Fredonia that have fire alarm boxes attached to them. This project was necessary due to the difficulty that would be experienced in recognizing these alarms in the event of an emergency. The newly highlighted poles make the alarms much more visible and will be effective in poor weather conditions.
