A senior citizen center in the old Fredonia Fire Hall would have a better chance of receiving community development funds than a similar center in the auditorium wing of Old Main, according to a representative of Fredonia’s consulting firm. The fire hall would be a better bet because it is more compact and would probably require less money to make it a workable senior citizen center. The primary reason, however, is the village owns the old fire hall and it does not own Old Main. The federal government would look much more favorably upon a building the village owned, the consultant said.
