Nationally known folk-pop group, The 10,000 Maniacs, recently performed a two-hour concert to a sold-out crowd in the Fredonia Opera House. The Jamestown-based band consists of Robert Buck on acoustic guitar, John Lombardo on electric guitar, Jerome Augustyniak on percussion, Fredonia native Mary Ramsey on viola, Dennis Drew on keyboard and Steven Gustafson on bass. The group performed many songs from its newest CD, “Love Among the Ruins,” the Maniacs’ first album since Ms. Ramsey joined the group, replacing Natalie Merchant who left for a solo career. The band also played a few hits from earlier albums.

The Kremlin proclaimed plans for a hero’s funeral in Red Square — Soviet communism’s highest honor — and burial in the Kremlin wall.
