Bring your ideas tonight

Plenty of conversation has been had regarding Central Connection — an idea to bring the village of Fredonia, city of Dunkirk and the State University of New York at Fredonia together — to boost the region.

Tonight, at 6:30 p.m. in the Dunkirk High School gym, residents are encouraged to voice their opinions on strengthening our combined population of about 25,000. “The idea again is how to present our area, present our common things, present our strengths so that we can attract tourists, so we can attract new businesses, so we can attract new families,” Fredonia Mayor Athanasia Landis explained. “We keep talking about consolidations and savings and all of this is very good. However, nobody is going to move here because we consolidated two departments. People are going to move here because we offer them something and this something can come out of the good cooperation between the city and the village with the help of SUNY.”

Landis is absolutely correct. Cooperation is essential in this effort. Those who have ideas — or care about the direction of the future — need to attend this event.
