Economy: Horvath’s key role for area
State University of New York at Fredonia President Dr. Virginia Horvath has a large role to play in our region’s future. Last week, she took on an important leadership position — that of co-chair of the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council.
The announcement comes at an exciting time for the area. Buffalo’s rebirth is being noticed nationwide — and there are a number of good things happening in Chautauqua County. Athenex is poised to bring hundreds of jobs to the north part while a National Comedy Center is moving ahead in Jamestown.
Without question, the council is significant in these projects.
“The (council) has been an innovative force since it began, with business leaders, elected officials, and higher education leaders working together to advance our region,” Horvath said. “I look forward to assisting in this leadership role, as the (council) continues our commitment to economic growth in Buffalo and in communities across Western New York.”
As do we.
