FOOTBALL: No passing up a combination

With one season in the books, the Fredonia-Brocton-Westfield football team merger is a winning idea and will continue for another season.

That was the sentiment announced by Fredonia Superintendent Paul DiFonzo last week, who admitted there needs to be some minor adjustments next fall. “In talking to Westfield and Brocton, we’re hopeful that we can do all the games in one facility, which would be at Brocton’s football facility,” DiFonzo said. “One team, one location.”

Though the schools are still seeking a head coach, the decision once again comes down to numbers. There’s just not enough players to field a team in each district without a combined effort.
