Behind times on payments
It is not a priority, but it does add to the frustration of how government is often not so quick to respond.
Last month, during a Finance Committee meeting, Dunkirk Councilman Don Williams pointed out that residents cannot pay their bills with a credit or debit card. “There’s a lot of calls that I get and that’s probably the number one complaint that I get. They want to do online payment and use a credit card and everything with it,” he said during the meeting.
Government moves slowly — even in the 21st century. For local shops and restaurants, this practice could lead to being out of business or losing customers.
Our city has lost customers as population has decreased. Convenience means a lot nowadays.
Dunkirk is not the only one that has to change with the times.
