Hockey: No thin ice for big bosses

Another disappointing season will be almost wrapped up at KeyBank Center in Buffalo when the Sabres play their final home game against the Montreal Canadiens tonight.

Just like their pro-sport partners the Bills, the treadmill associated with being a fan of these two teams going nowhere can be maddening. So much excitement builds in the offseason with disappointment coming too early.

Though they have young stars, including Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart and Rasmus Ristoleinen, the Sabres went through a number of stretches where they were downright dull. Add in another disappointing season without the playoffs — connected to an unsuccessful and overpromoted President Russ Brandon whose era of leadership has never produced a winner here — and the boredom seems acceptable to fans.

Wait till next year? Not with this incapable administration.
