Fredonia: Quiet village, alarming incident
At 4 a.m. Sunday — a time normally quite peaceful — the village of Fredonia police were on alert. A shooting incident at 80 Center St. was reported, but arrests have yet to be made.
It is a trying time for the village. It is still recovering from major job losses at Carriage House while the number of residences occupied by State University of New York at Fredonia students has decreased as enrollment has gone down.
As reported in Tuesday’s edition, the shooting is the second in four years on Center Street. That is alarming to say the least.
Fredonia police are seeking assistance in the incident, something unusual for our normally tight-knit community. If you can help, call police at 679-1531. And, if you see something unusual or concerning — in any community — you can let the authorities know.
