JULY FOURTH: Cherish freedom, our country
Our United States of America is far from a perfect country. Even today you will find angst and dissension between political parties, cultures and neighbors.
But our country remains the greatest — even if you are not happy with the current state of affairs. We are free. We have the ability to do what we want, live where we choose and speak our minds.
It is not like that everywhere, which is what led to the Declaration of Independence that was signed 241 years ago today, that formally ended any connection of the 13 colonies to Great Britain.
Since then, America is no different than any other country. We still have some growing pains. We’ve even battled amongst ourselves in a civil war.
But today we are one — and proud of it.
Enjoy the Fourth, its fireworks, time with family and celebrate America.
