LAKE ERIE: Special day for showcase
An annual event continues to reel in major support for Lake Erie and the fishing community.
This morning, weather permitting, is the Lake Erie Experience V.I.P. Fishing Day. In past years, elected officials as well as nationally known outdoors writers have taken part in this event, which includes fishing on a boat and lunch at the Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club.
Because we see Lake Erie just about every day, it can be taken for granted. Many, however, nationwide know it is a major source of fishing — one of the best in the country.
Sponsored by the county Visitors’ Bureau, the county chamber and the Lake Erie Charter boat captains, the great body of water is reason for optimism for this area. Fishing — and the lake’s environment — are one part of that future.
