SILVER CREEK: Making splash at 1st meeting
New Silver Creek Trustee Stephen Romanik wasted no time in talking about a boiling point for village residents: the water bills.
Romanik, using his household as an example, noted users are almost punished with the high bills. He noted a monthly system could ease some of the pain. If we can do some kind of electric billing like NYSEG does and National Fuel, then I would have an average bill of $84 a month,” he said. “This would make it more manageable for people on fixed incomes.”
Water bills across the region are already too high, something we’ve noted for more than a decade. But if monthly bills help lessen the burden to users, Romanik is correct. The village needs to be proactive on this issue.
