July’s second Sunday normally has a menu full of activities. In the morning, the 54th Dunkirk-Fredonia Rotary Fly-In Breakfast was held and served more than 1,200 residents.
Besides a morning meal, the airport — as well as flights over the region — are also showcased. It’s always a special event.
From there, many venture to Point Gratiot for the Harbor Cruise. This year, 700 vehicles packed the park. “Harbor Cruise has been located at the Point for about five years,” said Ken Doepp, chairman of Lake Shore Street Rod and lead organizer of the event. “It started at the fairgrounds, then the Con Club, then the hotel. … We outgrew that and now we’re here.”
Both organizations use the events as fund-raisers, which means the money taken in will be reinvested into the community.
