Sheridan: Work destroyed within seconds

It is horrifying to witness the video of a car crashing into a convenience store in Sheridan, which was posted on our web site — observertoday.com — on Tuesday morning. Thank goodness no one was injured.

In the end, a 40-year-old Fredonia man is charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana. It could have been much worse, but it is still inexcusable.

Owner Mark Greene has done a tremendous amount of work at the site. Besides the convenience store, there is a liquor store around the corner. All that work wrecked by one person’s carelessness in a matter of seconds — on a Sunday night around 7 p.m.

“We’ll get it going,” Greene told City Editor Jimmy McCarthy. “We appreciate all the support from the people who wanted to help out. The people around here are great.”

That “can-do” attitude is definitely appreciated.
