Smooth ride, fewer businesses

It has been a bit of a headache getting through downtown Dunkirk on Central Avenue in recent days. Paving has created something of a traffic problem.

Remember, that is a good thing. When there’s traffic, that means there is progress.

But while things are getting smoother for motorists, the surroundings are not as vibrant. Business, it seems, continues to dwindle from Central Avenue. That’s an unfortunate trend.

Paving is solving one downtown problem, but the bigger one — especially now — is empty storefronts.
