Election: Get to polls on Tuesday
Many voters have already made up their minds on who they are choosing in Tuesday’s election. As a reminder, polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. — or about 15 hours.
Some races have favorable candidates, while others do not. In the case of the latter we urge voters to choose who is the lesser of the two evils.
In many cases, that is how we vote nowadays. As a recap, here were our endorsements in the county, state and federal races:
¯ SHERIFF — Joe Gerace.
¯ ASSEMBLY — Andrew Goodell.
¯ ATTORNEY GENERAL — Keith Wofford.
¯ GOVERNOR — No endorsement.
¯ U.S. SENATE — Chele Farley.
¯ COMPTROLLER — Thomas DiNapoli.
¯ U.S. REPRESENTATIVE — Tom Reed.
On Oct. 27, we urged voters to reject Dunkirk Common Council’s law to change terms for members from two years to four. After the editorial was published, we received a note from the Board of Elections indicating the referendum will take place in 2019 though the resolution that passed council did not indicate that. We expect to write the same editorial when the time comes next year.
