Giving gift of warmth in coats

Recent blasts of winter had many residents running to the closets for the heavy coats. We’re the lucky ones.

Others, including the youngsters, are not as fortunate. But thanks to the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County and a number of Community Bank locations, residents can add some warmth.

A winter coat drive is taking place and seeking old coats — still wearable — especially for our youth. “We have heard from other agencies that they are having difficulty finding jackets for kids that they are working with,” said Adam Dolce, United Way executive director. “We see this as an opportunity to respond to a need and activate the network we work with to give and help our neighbors, and the youngest among us. That is what being a United Way is all about.”

Bring your coats to a number or the bank locations — or the United Way at 626 Central Ave. in Dunkirk. For more information, call 366-5424.
