| | A champion againSeptember 2, 2009 - John D'AgostinoOne of the best sports Western New York seems to miss out on, especially Chautauqua County, is lacrosse. We have two area high school teams — Gowanda and Silver Creek — but after that, the spring sports are dominated by baseball or softball. In late August, the Toronto Nationals won the Major Lacrosse League title, defeating Denver 10-9. My cousin Brett Queener played in goal in the second half with a broken hand in helping Toronto win its first title. Brett also was on champion Rochester last year, also playing the second half in goal. Included in this blog is Brett's performance, which was on ESPN over the summer, in winning the freestyle portion of the All-Star game skills competition. It's a Thriller.
