Do as I say, not as I do

September 21, 2010 - Shawn Paulus

On October 1st New York state will be reintroducing the sales tax on clothing and footwear. This is part of the grand scheme of things in Albany to help close the budget gap.

Our wonderful state Sen. Catharine Young says:

“I voted against this regressive tax increase that hurts family budgets, and every one of their other record-setting, job-killing tax hikes and spending increases.”

Wow this coming from the person who has increased her own spending the past 6 months by 18.1 percent.

Is this a case of the pot calling the kettle black or what? Can someone out there jog my memory and remind me what she has done to help reduce any spending in this state. All I ever hear her say is she voted no for this or that. What has she introduced to the state of New York to actually help cut spending?

Oh, she likes to bring those nice big checks to the area and smile pretty for the camera. The look at me I bring “free money” to the area pictures we run in the newspaper.

So let’s see if I understand myself here (I doubt I can, but what the heck). She is yelling at the top of her lungs saying she is against all of these spending increases or tax increases. Yet, she is spending more herself and giving away a lot of that “free money” which is taxpayers’ money.

As I see it, she is no better than the exact same people she is bashing.
