| | Taking to the airwavesMay 3, 2011 - John D'AgostinoLast week, the local news spotlight shined on a not-so-bright group: the Chautauqua County Legislature. While cutting spending seems to be on the minds of many states throughout the nation, we have just enough members in Mayville who want to continue the status quo. In April, they took one more step in that direction of higher spending by seeking an increase in the sales tax. No surprise there. Also of no surprise was the Legislature rejecting a proposal by John Runkle to allow voters to decide on whether the group should be downsized from 25 to 19. These topics — as well as some others — were part of a WDOE-AM "Viewpoint" program hosted by WDOE news director Dave Rowley on April 27. Click on the link at right then go to 0427 Observer.
