Monday morning quarterback

August 22, 2011 - John D'Agostino
Welcome back Fredonia State University students.

Today marks the beginning of classes and the fall semester. But there were a number of other significant stories our staff focused on over the weekend in the OBSERVER including:

• SUNY Fredonia President Dennis Hefner announcing his retirement at the end of the academic year.

• The village of Fredonia talking about a coterminous agreement with the town of Pomfret.

• Legislators — no surprise here — wanting to add to the tax burden in the county.

• An arrest in a city burglary on Saturday morning.

• And an editorial critical of council for not allowing A.J. Dolce to change his vote from a yes to a no.

We can blog about any of these issues or any others today. Let the discussion begin — and I will offer my opinions as well.
