That is what the closing statements came down to between incumbent Chautauqua County Judge John Ward and challenger William Coughlin. During the League of Women Voters debate at the Fredonia Opera House last week, the candidates spoke of their passion for the position as well as some of the issues they encounter. The appeal rate mentioned by Coughlin comes from a 2011 article in The Buffalo News which looked at the records of judges across portions of upstate New York.
