Dunkirk Dave fans welcome

January 30, 2013 - April Diodato
An out-of-town reader hoping to witness Dunkirk Dave's prognostication on Groundhog Day emailed me to ask for some particulars on the event. I contacted Dunkirk Dave's handler, Bob Will, wildlife rehabilitator, for details. Fret not, fans – the event is open to the public and Dunkirk Dave should be appearing at around 7:30 a.m.

According to OBSERVER reporter Diane R. Chodan's article on the event last year, Will says Dave's accuracy is over 90 percent. Last year, he predicted an early spring, and I should note that spring weather promptly arrived by March 2. (What must he think of temperatures in the 60s at the end of January?!) 2013 will mark Dunkirk Dave's 60th year in the prognostication business.

With Dave's outstanding ability to forecast the spring weather, before we place our bets, perhaps we should look to him for Super Bowl predictions as well? Let's go, Ravens!
