Cuomo’s visit: Young salutes effort

December 17, 2013 - John D'Agostino
No one worked harder on the NRG repowering than state Sen. Catharine Young.

Next to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who said she was a "big shot in Albany," she received the loudest ovation. In her comments on Sunday, she thanked residents for all they had done in making Albany hear the concerns of Dunkirk and Chautauqua County.

I could not agree more. Senator Young fought for Dunkirk like no one ever did in the past. I would like to know where the resistance really came from and why would the state stand in the way of a half billion dollar investment? Do the environmentalists really have that much clout or was it National Grid that fought it? Maybe there is a money trail there that we just don't know about yet. In the final analysis New York State gave us the shaft on a $500 million opportunity and if it were not for Senator Young we might have come up empty. Cudos also to Assemblyman Goodell who worked diligently on the project. We are fortunate to be well represented in Albany.
