Excitement here continues to reach new heights about the upcoming Beijing Olympics after Fredonia’s Jenn Stuczynski broke her own American record last weekend at the U.S. trials in Oregon. After a nervous beginning, Stuczynski showed the nation the true champion she is, clearing 16 feet, 1 3/4 inches. “I think I was more happy to make the opening height than I was to make the record jump,” Stuczynski said at the trials Sunday. Community residents, whether watching or hearing the news, were just as happy. We are so lucky — and proud — to call Jenn one of our own. Because of her efforts, this year’s Olympics will be extra special for all Western New York residents.
