We are now going to address the role governments play in our society. When I think locally, I think of our law enforcement — our police force, so I interviewed Police Chief Bradley Meyers. I had never met him before. Believe me I was very impressed. The first question I asked him was, “What are the most common arrests that are locally made?” He answered, “Quality of life issues like littering, urinating offenses, noise level. Then there are the minor criminal mischief offenses like stealing street signs or lawn ornaments, etc. Most of these minor crimes are caused by the lack of respect for the law. When he used the word “respect” he went into a special category because he agrees with my philosophy. You know — smart people always think alike. Right? Police Chief Meyers also said that between the ages of 12 to 25 there are a lot of graffiti arrests recently. That is definitely a lack of respect for other people’s property.
