Why does a company purchase another company, just to close the facility? To get rid of the competition? This is why it is better to have companies that are smaller, locally owned. These mega corporations do not care at all about the area, or the lives they are destroying. It would be nice if we could get a list of brands they produce and boycott them, but since they are store brands I am not sure that is possible.

ConAgra owns a whole host of brands: SlimJim, Rotel, Healthy Choice, Swiss Miss, Readi Whip, Marie Callenders, Hunts, Chef Boyardee, Wesson, LaChoy, Orville Redenbacher, Egg Beaters, Manwich, Kids Cuisine, Crunch N Munch, VanKamps, David, Banquet, Jiffy Pop, Peter Pan, Bertolli, Blue Bonnet.....just to name few. You would be boycotting an entire page of things. Big companies like this are a problem.

They want to break into the private label market because now they can own both the name brand recipe and the store brand recipe. So no matter which you buy they get that money.

We won't boycott this for the same reason we don't boycott everything made in China. You would have nothing to eat, nothing to wear, basically nothing. I dare you to name things made in America.

Companies open and close plants based on cost, if the cost of doing business is lower in one place than another they will move. That is simple economics and it is not just about wages, it is taxes, regulations and many other factors. In other words we have and are becoming more noncompetitive to where we can not even hold onto jobs on the lower pay scale. The sad thing is New York does not care about saving private sector jobs, they just want to increase government jobs. Just look around the area and see what has been happening over the last 40 years and the evidence is quite clear.
