Hey, here is another way to avoid a UTT. Obey the law! Quaint concept but it has been proven effective. Placing the blame on the patrol because YOU broke the law is a little juvenile, wouldn't you say?

It will still be a ticket trap until the police force is dissolved permanently.

Remember the rookies will still ticket because they are trying to make a name for themselves.

I'm sure the citizens of SC would like to see a cost analysis of the three choices. Completely part time, CCSD taking over patrol or status quo. Personally it looks like these officers are seeing the writing on the wall and bailing before the inevitable.

These officers are thinking about what is best for their future because they see that the future of this small village is very bleak. The tax payers of this village can no longer afford to pay for all these officers and the pensions and healthcare costs that goes along each of them when they retire.

This is the time to make changes.... lets hope ppl will want to.Not only with our village but also the school system. It's all about cutting cost we all need to stand together and make this happen!

Now is the opportunity for the village to really reassess the need for a police department and consider the cost savings to a village that continues to see population loss and growing tax rates. What about approaching the County Sheriff in combination with the Town of Hanover to have a town-wide contract with the Sheriff to provide policing to the village also. The substation is already in place and the Sheriff already assists in village police efforts as back-up! What is stopping local officials from thinking outside the box. Chief Roche is eligible for retirement - now is the opportunity.

This is pretty typical. The smaller places constantly loose employees to other establishments that pay more, have better benefits, and/or more overtime opportunities. Layoffs at the County? I doubt it.

In the last Sheriffs budget, Gerace states that he may have to "lay off" 28 road patrol deputies. So why would a full time police officer, from a reletivly quiet village, with a full time opening already available, go to a job with the Chaut. Co Sheriffs Dept with the real possibility of layoffs..?? Thats like leaving Purina to go to work for Petris. It doesnt make any sense.

All three full time officers quit, now the sergeant quits, whats going on here? Four full time staff out of five quit??? It this Police Dept. done, whats next, the Sheriff providing patrols like it does for Hanover?? Well at least it would be more stable and have the resources of a much larger Department.
