If everything is volunteer, what are the costs involved with the program?

Their work is volunteer, but not their resources. I encourage both of you to learn about this program and what they do. Due to privacy reasons, this is a very discrete agency in our county but their impact is great.

They have volunteers who provide their time and gas to visit with these children for free. But the volunteers have to complete a very specific training before they can serve. They also provide personal items to the children who often times have lost everything. They have to pay dues to be part of the state/national organization. There is insurance, rent, utilities, audit, and a very meager salary...the usual expenses that most every organization has to pay. You can't run a national program for nothing. This is a wonderful program and I'm sad to see that our state does not care a whole lot about abused and neglected children.

There are tons of programs this state / fed have that I wish they'd stop immediately. This is not one of them. That people will put forth their own time/money to participate says volumes. The only fear I have is a Jerry Sandusky-type event, which I hope to god never ever happens. To those who take part in this program, hat's off to you.
