Why bother. Dunkirk is just one big slum area. Fix it and the freeloaders will just take it back to the slum. What a waste of money!!!!!

My only question..what is "$90,000 for administration"? Does that seem top heavy? I would like to see specifically what this money is paying for.

Where is money for literacy volunteers and other programs that help to lift people out of poverty?

Judeye, you forgot: the $90k is being reserved for self-awarded bonuses. :-)

So the city needs to spend $90k of the CDBG to make sure they don't spend it improperly? lol!

Any one find it interesting that the Bertges Property which if i remember correctly was listed as a not eligible use by that Comptrollers report is listed on the HUD plan as a "important" piece of development property?

you would have thought that that might have warranted a follow up question by the crack staff at the Observer but that might be asking alot. Thankfully this paper can take dictation well.

Makes you wonder though how the Comptroller can declare something improper per HUD rules but HUD apparently approves of its use. If i were the administration I'd be singing that HUD approves of this from the rooftop yet for some reason they are mum ...

BENNY1 is right. According to the comptrollers report auditors could not justify purchase of the former car dealership as eligible CDBG activity. Let's hope the city remembers to include bonus money in the new request!!!!! What do we have to show for all the CDBG millions that have been spent over the last few decades?

"What do we have to show for all the CDBG millions that have been spent over the last few decades? "

A lot of well off current and former city officials and employees.

Time to get rid of the DLDC...it's a waste. What ever happened to the review from the feds on the misdoings as per an audit? They turn right around and blow 160,000 beteen DLDC and administration

Just to note...I did further research and found that the administrative costs include all the staff hired to develop and implement programs, monitor the grants, etc. At that, it seems to be a very reasonable...NOT OVER INFLATED...amount.

Just needed to look a bit further to see what it was being used for...
